An Investigation on Learning Organization Characteristics in Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (ENGOs) in Tehran City

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the learning organization characteristics in environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) in Tehran city using the Watkins and Marsick’s seven dimensional learning organization model. The research method was descriptive- correlation and used survey method. The population consisted of all active members on ENGOs in Tehran city.  Using Bartlett’s (2011) table 94 members were selected as samples. Data were collected using Watkins and Marsick’s Dimension of Learning Organization Questionnaire (DLOQ). The results showed that, the ENGOs are learning organizations. Among the seven learning organization dimensions, the inquiry and dialogue was in the first rank and creation and sharing learning system was in the last rank. The results of compare means showed that there were no differences between males and females regarding the different learning levels (individual, group and organizational), but there were differences between members with related and non-related courses with environment in all three learning levels.
